3RD OF JUNE

Scarlett Bittencourt

My knees were bleeding, from kneeling so long
It was sacrifice in my mind, though I knew it felt wrong
So many false hopes lined my way
But God stayed with me, come what may
I saw others succeed and cried out in despair
Why not me, my Lord? Are You even there?
But later I'd learn, it was not yet my time
Each step was a part of His greater design

And I remember, the 3rd of June
A love so bright, it lit the room
A joy so pure, it filled the air
My refuge, my grace, I found You there

Fear crept in, as challenges arose
A new responsibility, one I'd never known
But there, I changed my habits, my soul
In every hug, every smile, I felt whole
How could one be happy without a child's face?
Their laughter, their love, my sacred place
Oh, the letters, the words, they gave me strength
From their little hands, I'd go to any length

And I remember, the 3rd of June
A love so bright, it lit the room
A joy so pure, it filled the air
My refuge, my grace, I found You there

If God brought me in, please let me stay
I hold on tightly, don't take it away
Once I fought to enter, I'll fight to remain
For here lies my joy, amidst all my pain
But if my mission is done, and I must depart
I'll carry each memory close to my heart

And I remember, the 3rd of June
A love so bright, it lit the room
A joy so pure, it filled the air
My refuge, my grace, I found You there

Oh, 3rd of June, the day love bloomed
Forever, my heart beats in tune
