Coffee in the morning with mom

When I spent a few weeks back in Arkansas
On the night I pulled in
Phone rang, it was that old best friend
I was nervous he would talk about my sins
Sunday service me, but this is what he said

Cause when we wake up, I got a brand-new truck
And I've been dying to take her for a ride
I want to go back to playing ping pong
Scraping my knee and yelling for my mom

Then it came time to tell them what's been going on
So I got my friends together, and I played them these songs
I looked up, and they were singing along
To that first one I wrote called Mexico
Now I get it why people move home
I admit it, I don't want to grow old
So I'm in the city, and I'm sowing my oats
But is it fitting for a man to be alone?
